DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Talks “Northern Border Security” at Building America’s Future Roundtable in Detroit
DETROIT, MI — The America’s Future Tour, a project of Building America’s Future, on Friday hosted U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem at a policy roundtable event focused on the need to secure the northern border and protect Americans from the deadly drugs, illicit trade, and human trafficking infiltrating our country through Canada.
The roundtable exposed Canada’s failure to adequately help the Trump administration secure the northern border and shined a light on how cartels exploit tribal lands to smuggle drugs and other illicit items into the U.S. The panel also praised President Trump for the actions he has taken to secure the northern border and encouraged him to continue using trade negotiations to ensure Canada steps up its enforcement efforts.

“We are really hopeful that this new leader, Prime Minister [Mark] Carney, will be a different individual — someone who will work closely with the Trump administration to give us the security, the information, and the partnerships we need.”
@Sec_Noem: Today in Detroit, I joined the Building America’s Future roundtable to discuss threats at the US-Canada border. Thanks to the leadership of @POTUS Trump, we’ve brought illegal southern border crossings to their lowest point in five years. Now, it’s time we replicate that success on our northern border as criminals and cartels look to exploit Canada’s security vulnerabilities and weak border enforcement. We will not allow Canada’s policy failures to become America’s public health crisis.

Bridge Michigan: Kristi Noem, Trump allies warn of ‘northern border crisis’ at Michigan event
“Many more” transnational gang members are now attempting to cross into the country’s northern border amid ramped-up security at the southern border with Mexico, she said during a panel discussion in Detroit with Republican US Rep. John James and other border security advocates.
@RunWithRunestad: Yesterday in Detroit, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem did a remarkable job outlining just how open the borders were under the Biden administration. She highlighted the mass migration of millions, including an unchecked flow of child traffickers, fentanyl dealers, hard-core convicted murderers and rapists, sleeper cells, and more. What continues to astonish me is that Democrats have never voiced even the slightest opposition to these wide-open borders or the devastating consequences they have had on the American people. Secretary Noem also pointed out that in the last two months of the current Trump administration, the United States achieved the lowest number of illegal border crossings in recorded history. These are the kinds of policies the overwhelming majority of voters have demanded — and now, once again, are beginning to see implemented. Yet Democrat officeholders remain stubbornly committed to open-border policies that endanger American communities.
